Compensation $65,700 to $87,600 range based on years of  experience and education.

*This range reflects Carestream’s good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.

Position Summary:

 

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for ensuring EHS policies and practices are followed at the plant and providing insight and leadership on continuous improvement in these areas. In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain processes and programs to minimize deficiencies and ensure compliance with existing federal, state, and local regulations, permits, and corporate policies and procedures. Success in this role requires knowledge and understanding of the application of EHS regulations, strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and an eye for detail.  

 

The position reports to the Plant Manager for Rochester Equipment Mfg. and will be based at our Rochester manufacturing facility on West Ridge Road.  

Position Responsibilities:

•    Ensure ongoing compliance with multimedia environmental permits and regulatory requirements covering environmental and occupational health and safety aspects of the CHR-DR plant through risk assessments and audits. 
•    Actively participate with leadership team to define EHS goals and objectives, and support measuring, monitoring, auditing, and reporting on EHS performance to leadership team.
•    Manage outside environmental consultants including proposal review, work authorization, invoice approval, and work product quality control.
•    Provide information and guidance to Carestream management on safety and environmental issues as they affect current and proposed processes, equipment and procedures including the review of new projects.
•    Support Change Management reviews following company protocols and ensuring EHS considerations are evaluated in a timely manner.
•    Maintain all records and reports as defined by regulatory agencies and corporate guidelines.
•    Train employees on EHS policies and best practices and lead local EHS Team.
•    Ensure EHS and related record-keeping follows company document control policies and aligns with regulatory requirements.
•    Stay abreast of the latest EHS trends, policies, regulations, and best practices.

Required Skills & Education:

•    BS/BA degree within field related to EHS and/or 3+ years of relevant EHS experience (degree and 3+ preferred).
•    ISO 14001 management systems.
•    Proficient with MS Office technologies including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as internet and email tools. 
•    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
•    Adaptability and ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated technical skills and familiarity with Monroe County, NYS, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations and permitting programs.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), OSHA 30 General Industry
  • Proficient in Power BI

Work Environment:

Office, Manufacturing areas, labs and loading docks.
