Compensation $63,000 to $70,000 depending on education and experience. Carestream is willing to consider those with more senior required experience, education and skills.

Position Summary:

Carestream is hiring an experienced Import Compliance Specialist for its 1049 W Ridge Road manufacturing and supply chain in Rochester, NY. Fixed Hybrid work days of Monday, Wednesday and Thursday onsite. Internally, this is called Import/Export Specialist.

 

This position will be responsible for the review of import/export documentation and licensing for all shipments originating from the US to other locations around the world and inbound shipments from other locations to the US. Adeptness in navigating Customs rules and regulations is essential, as the role requires an in-depth knowledge of export laws and foreign trade regulations. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are critical to this role as the individual will need to report any changes in import/export regulations that will impact other business units. The import/export compliance specialist will be the primary liaison for all import/export related inquiries and will be the subject matter expert in proper export shipment handling and import/export documentation retention.

Position Responsibilities:

•    Responsible for maintaining Import/Export compliance with US and other Government requirements.
•    Primary Liaison to US Customs and other Government agencies for export inquiries.
•    Provide internal and external customer service for Import/Export questions and issues.
•    Ensure that all import documents provided to US brokerage partner are correct to prevent delays in custom release. 
•    Update & maintain the product database, as required, for the US brokerage partner to ensure all HTS codes & country or origins are accurate. Review weekly SAP material master.
•    Updates and provide information to brokerage partner prior to import of these materials into the US commerce. 
•    Remain current on updates to all US and Canada regulations. CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) & CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) requires ongoing training.
•    Will oversee monthly wire transfers to brokers and/or payment auditing. 
•    Maintain logistics contact with US agencies for auditing of imports and exports.
•    Prepare, review and manage all required documents including certificates of origins ensuring compliance with Foreign Trade Regulations and company policies. 
•    Responsible for AES/ITN filings, including EEI data for USPPI exports. 
•    Validating and maintaining records for Duty Drawback and process requests to US Customs Broker for filing.
•    Responsible for maintaining Master Data of ECCN classifications and General Licenses.
•    Visual Compliance screening of internal and external customers through the Denied/Restricted Party List to ensure OFAC Compliance.
•    Responsible for the review of Sanctions Screening to Sanctioned or High-Risk Countries/Embargoed Countries. 
•    Record Retention Lead- Export.
•    Perform and complete desk audits- Import & Exports

Required Skills & Education:

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience with US Import regulations.
  • Must be a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS).
  • FDA experience (combination of FDA training, Importer or Brokerage from medical, pharma or bio).
  • 1+ years classifying products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), including HTS chapter determination and classification.
  • Must be in the office on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week (fixed hybrid schedule).
  • Associates degree or higher (Bachelor’s degree preferred) or equivalent work experience.

Desired Skills:

Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
International trade regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
Strong PC and MS Office (Excel, Word) skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Attention to detail.
SAP system experience.
Certified in Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
CTPAT experience
Tariff Mitigation experience

Work Environment:

Carestream office, manufacturing, home office. International communication is expected. Travel less than 10% is possible.

Traditional Office Environment:  This position is primarily an office setting with standard temperature and humidity controls, moderate to light noise, fluorescent lighting, primarily sitting with standing desks available, extensive computer and keyboard use, etc.
