Compensation $66,000 to $80,000 annually.

*This range reflects Carestream’s good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.

Position Summary:

Carestream is seeking an experienced onsite Commodity Manager for its Purchasing team located within the 1049 Ridge Road, Rochester, NY manufacturing. 

  • Negotiate pricing & terms, negotiate & write confidentiality agreements, supply agreements, consignment agreements, termination letters, and other contract documents for various commodity categories
  • Solve problems important to the success of the organization and able to draw on experience to successfully negotiate lowest & best price.
  • Work in self-managed team environment with minimal direct supervision.
  • Participate in the supplier assessment process.
  • Manage the variance process for payment terms and overdue cases.
  • Track the development of new technologies and industry trends.
  • Perform Price / cost analysis.
  • Marketplace benchmarking for best practices and pricing.
  • General business skills – including the ability to understand client requirements from a strategic perspective and to translate those requirements into a supplier base that meets all client expectations and future needs.
  • Works effectively with both internal and external supplier personnel, at all levels, including senior management.
  • Able to work closely and effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, and Development engineers in a team environment.
  • Interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
  • Commodity and Product knowledge, in terms of application and the external marketplace.
  • Savings, quality, lead-time, and inventory management.
    • Lead the overall team savings goal established each year.
    • Lead efforts dedicated to cost savings.
    • Reports savings achievements through monthly statistics and quarterly summary as appropriate.
  • For hardware related commodities, establish Business Resumption Plans with key suppliers.
  • Additional duties as needed or assigned.

Required Skills & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 5+ years of industry background in a purchasing role or related. This technical degree is preferred for specialized commodity categories, but will also entertain Supply Chain, Business Administration or Finance related Bachelor's degrees.
  • For USA Only - Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
  • Proven track record of delivering or exceeding expectations.
  • Demonstrated effective personal computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. SAP/Ariba preferred.
  • Able to quickly learn and effectively utilize various specialized computer and database tools as designated for contracts (Upside), productivity tracking (PPT), etc.,
  • Innovative and results oriented with a high degree of professional and ethical behavior. Ability to effectively influence others and manage sensitive situations.
  • Travel as required. Must have the ability to obtain a Passport. Willingness and the experience to travel, both domestically and internationally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, executive presence, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively.
  • Sensitivity to different cultures and global country practices.
  • Excellent business & financial acumen, ability to function as business partner through teaming, with the ability to motivate, influence and drive change in a collaborative and effective way.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment (or similar highly regulated industry). Familiarity with FDA’s Supplier Controls. Familiarity with ISO 9001 & 13485 a plus.
  • Strong technical curiosity.
  • Six-sigma (green, brown, or black belt), or equivalent a plus.
  • Professional purchasing or supply chain certifications a plus.
  • Project Management skills a plus.
  • Second language skills a plus.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing Facility

8:00 am -5:00 pm Monday – Friday (hours can be adjusted accordingly).

 

Additional hours expected as required for communication with international based clients and suppliers outside of normal working days and hours.

 

For local manufacturing support, presence in office is expected daily to facilitate interface with engineering and manufacturing.
