Compensation Range of $26.00 per hour to $32.50 per hour depending on experience

*This range reflects Carestream’s good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.

Position Summary:

The manufacturing mechanic provides machine maintenance support for Carestream’s roll-to-roll solvent coating manufacturing operation located in Rochester. This position is essential for maintaining and troubleshooting equipment to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability. This person will work with a wide variety of manufacturing equipment including mixers, pumps, motors, fans, pipes, drives, scales, thermal oxidizer, valves, steam/chilled water, and more. This role is essential for continued operation of the manufacturing plant and ensuring equipment is maintained to regulatory and production standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to conduct routine and preventative maintenance on manufacturing machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address and resolve mechanical problems and optimize equipment performance.
  • Work a flexible schedule including 24-hour coverage (via phone) if needed to support manufacturing between Monday morning and Thursday afternoon.
  • Troubleshoot to identify root cause of mechanical issues and implement repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Develop improvements in preventative maintenance plan to minimize downtime and equipment failure.
  • Adhere to and promote safety regulations and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors regarding maintenance issues.
  • Recommend upgrades or modifications to enhance equipment performance.
  • Calibrate and adjust machines to meet production specifications.
  • Coordinate or assist with assembly, disassembly or installation of machinery or equipment.

Required Skills & Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience working as a mechanic in a manufacturing environment.

  • Or minimum of 4 years of experience as an equipment mechanic in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience maintaining motors, mixers, pumps, or other manufacturing equipment.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving experience.

  • Good interpersonal, verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.

  • Strong sense of teamwork and responsibility.

  • Safety consciousness and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Computer knowledge helpful (MS Office, SAP, etc.)
  • Previous experience following procedures to perform preventative or predictive maintenance.
  • Experience with electrical / wiring.
  • Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) knowledge.
  • Experience working with external vendors for procurement of parts and services.
  • OSHA certification.
