Compensation $73,800 - $95,000 annually depending on experience.

*This range reflects Carestream’s good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.

Position Summary:

Carestream Health is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to join our team in supporting and optimizing the production of cutting-edge X-ray equipment. This role is pivotal in troubleshooting and resolving production issues to reduce downtime, driving continuous improvement, and enhancing operational efficiency across our assembly and test lines.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt, hands-on technical support for diagnosing and resolving issues in production, minimizing downtime and ensuring product quality.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned product lines by quickly building & maintaining a thorough understanding of the product’s functionality, end use, and relevant standard work.
  • Monitor product line health by working with the quality group to extract trends from production data.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective & preventative actions for production defects.
  • Support equipment maintenance and calibration activities to ensure manufacturing assets are operating safely and within specifications.
  • Effectively communicate project status & production updates to audiences with different levels of technical understanding
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives and productivity improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and implement process improvements.
  • Analyze engineering requirements and propose manufacturing processes, tools, or fixtures to address those requirements.
  • Drive initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools to continuously improve safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Manage engineering change activities including component obsolescence, annual reviews, and supplier change activities.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Represent Carestream’s manufacturing organization in discussions with internal customers and outside vendors.

Required Skills & Education:

  • Ability to work hands-on, on-site with core hours from 7am – 4pm, Monday – Friday.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant hands-on engineering experience. Medical device manufacturing preferred.          
  • Able to read mechanical drawings and understand GD&T symbols and tolerances.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of typical quality expectations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Comfortable with computers and able to quickly learn new programs & tools as needed
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, primarily Excel and Word.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with SAP or ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools, preferably NX, Creo, SolidWorks
  • Comfortable navigating quality management systems within a medical device manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with change management tools.
  • Knowledge of cost reduction and productivity improvement techniques.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methodologies.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing and office environments; regular time spent on the production floor supporting operations.
  • Collaborative team setting focused on continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
