Compensation $30/hour to $35.53/hour either Monday - Friday 5:50AM to 2:30PM or Monday - Thursday, 5:50AM to 4:20PM. $61k-76k annually.

*This range reflects Carestream’s good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.

Position Summary:

This skilled mechanic provides manufacturing machine maintenance support to the Rochester Film Finishing production team.  This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of production equipment, contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing process.  Using their mechanical knowledge, education, and experience, this person is responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment used in the production process, ensuring the manufacturing equipment has minimal downtime and operates at its highest expected capacity. 

Shift: 40+ hours per week, Monday – Friday 5:50AM  to 2:30PM, occasional overtime as needed OR Work Hours: 40+ hours per week, Monday – Thursday, 5:50AM to 4:20PM

Position Responsibilities:

  • Using AutoCAD, design and fabricate parts within the machine shop as needed. Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to understand equipment specifications. 25%
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address and resolve complex mechanical problems as well as to optimize equipment performance.
  • Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on manufacturing machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
  • Routinely inspects drives, motors, and belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters or performs other maintenance work while following standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot to identify root cause of both routine and complex mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair both routine and complex malfunctions in manufacturing equipment.
  • Actively participates in reliability meetings.
  • Adhere to and promotes safety regulations and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.

Required Skills & Education:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 5+ years of experience and/or education with AutoCAD, mechanical design and repairs.
  • Fabrication of parts experience using machine shop tools (mills, lathes, dress presses, grinders, 3D printing).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-directed with a desire to coach and mentor others.
  • Safety consciousness and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Computer knowledge helpful (MS Office, SAP, etc.)
  • PLC knowledge and experience
  • Training or education in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field is helpful.
  • Previous experience as a manufacturing, building or automotive mechanic is helpful.
  • Previous experience working with a variety of manufacturing machinery and equipment is desirable.
