Compensation: $157,600 - $170,000 per year

*This range reflects Carestream’s good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.

Position Summary:

The Product Line Director, Rooms is an upstream product leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, portfolio management, and business performance of Carestream’s Medical Rooms solutions including Digital Radiography (DR) and Bone Mineral Density (BMD/DXA) product lines.

This role owns the end-to-end product solutions, from market intelligence, customer insight generation, technology strategy, product roadmap development, business case creation, new product introduction, commercialization, and lifecycle management. The Product Line Director serves as the primary product strategist and the key interface between customers, commercial teams, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, and executive leadership.
The role is responsible for defining future product platforms and solutions that address evolving clinical workflows, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and market opportunities. The Product Line Director will lead cross-functional teams to transform customer insights into differentiated products and solutions that deliver sustainable business growth, profitability, and competitive advantage.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own the product strategy and multi-year roadmap for DR Rooms and Bone Mineral Density (DXA/BMD) solutions.
  • Analyze market trends, clinical workflow evolution, technology advancements, reimbursement dynamics, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and strategic priorities.
  • Define product roadmap, portfolio positioning, target customer segments, value propositions, product differentiation, and competitive strategies.
  • Establish product investment priorities by balancing customer needs, technology feasibility, business impact, cost, quality, and time-to-market.
  • Own product lifecycle management including product introduction, platform evolution, product optimization, and product discontinuation strategies.
  • Act as the product owner and voice of customer throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Translate customer needs, clinical requirements, and market opportunities into clear product requirements and product specifications.
  • Translate product requirement and market requirement into engineering design requirements.
  • Partner closely with R&D, Clinical Applications, Engineering, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to define and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with business partners, strategic suppliers, and OEM partners to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and successfully deliver differentiated products to market.
  • Drive platform strategies including technology selection, build/buy/partner decisions, and long-term product architecture.
  • Identify opportunities for software, workflow, AI-enabled applications, and service-enabled solutions that enhance customer value.
  • Develop compelling business cases for new products by partnering with Finance, including market opportunity, revenue potential, investment requirements, pricing strategy, margin expectations, and financial return.
  • Partner with marketing team to co-develop product positioning, messaging, competitive differentiation, pricing strategy, and launch plans.
  • Partner with business leadership to define product P&L objectives and growth strategies.
  • Own product performance metrics including revenue growth, gross margin, market adoption, customer satisfaction, quality performance, and lifecycle profitability.
  • ~20% travel domestically and internationally.

Required Skills & Education:

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Medical Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline required.

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in medical device product management, product development, marketing, engineering, or related healthcare technology fields.
  • Demonstrated experience leading upstream product strategy, roadmap development, and new product introduction for complex medical devices.
  • Experience with Digital Radiography (DR), Bone Mineral Density (DXA), or related diagnostic imaging technologies strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing products involving hardware, software, AI, workflow solutions, or connected healthcare platforms.
  • Experience in strategic partnerships, OEM relationships, or technology evaluation.
  • Understanding of healthcare informatics standards and workflows including DICOM, HL7, IHE, EMR integration, PACS, RIS, and clinical workflow solutions.
  • Strong ability to analyze competitive landscapes, market dynamics, customer requirements, technology trends, and develop product strategies including segmentation, positioning, pricing and business model.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional programs from concept through commercialization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Medical Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline required.
