Carestream is looking for an exceptional medical imaging scientist to join our advanced research and innovation team in Rochester, NY. We are a group of scientists with a passion for innovative and disruptive solutions that range from image acquisition, to clinical workflow, image interpretation and patient management. As a leader in medical x-ray imaging systems and solutions, Carestream develops and incorporates cutting edge capture technologies and computer vision/AI technologies in products hardware and software. Position Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities would include taking a leadership role in the development of next generation digital x-ray systems. Initiate, propose, and prototype innovative solutions to meet customer needs. The position entails working as part of a team of imaging scientists and in close collaboration with medical physicists that are developing and clinically evaluating advanced digital x-ray imaging systems.  Work includes the development and performance characterization of prototype advanced digital x-ray imaging systems, development and evaluation of image processing algorithms, and collaborating with clinical partners to evaluate system effectiveness for various clinical applications.

Required Skills & Education:

•    Ph.D. or Master's degree in experimental or medical physics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or relevant fields.
•    5+ years’ experience in medical imaging required with a Master's degree or 3+ years with a Ph.D.
•    Proven track record of strong analytical skills, systematic and creative problem solving and innovation.
•    Experience in digital medical system imaging chain and performance evaluation.
•    Familiarity with state of the art image processing technology, and experience in developing image-processing algorithms for digital x-ray imaging systems. 
•    Experience in artificial intelligence for imaging applications will be preferred
•    Experience with 3D x-ray image capture and image reconstruction. Experience in Monte Carlo scatter estimation preferred. 
•    Familiarity with recognized image quality metrics such as DQE, MTF, NPS
•    Knowledge and experience in digital circuitry and embedded programing will be desired.
•    Ability to translate clinical needs into innovative proof-of-concept prototypes to demonstrate technology performance.
•    Familiar with challenges associated with the transition of a lab prototype into a product.
•    Demonstrated ability to provide technology leadership, strong project management and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work as part of a research team, and able to effectively interface with all project disciplines including Research, Product Development, Service Manufacturing, Regulatory, Marketing, Quality, External Customers, Clinical Research Collaborators.
•    Self-starter and capable of working with minimal supervision.  Ability to multi-task and provide expertise and leadership across multiple projects.
•    Excellent communications skills, written and verbal, and proven record of technical publications.
•    Willing to travel 5-10% to clinical sites to interact with collaborators.
 

Desired Skills:

•    Experience with medical x-ray imaging systems
•    Familiarity working in a regulated environment.
•    Experience with C/C++, C#
