Position Summary:

The Service Design Engineer will be responsible to support and lead activities for service strategy and product/solution design for the most effective service business and the highest customer experience working in direct contact with the regional service teams and product/solution design teams, focusing on design for serviceability and solution reliability.

Position Responsibilities:

- Provide input to the service strategy definition for new products in collaboration with product and service PLM and R&D team based on product launch strategy
- Collect requirements from the regional service organizations as voice of the customer for product design specifications for reliability and serviceability
- Ensure relevant design requirements documents are updated including reliability and serviceability requirements
- Provide input for service metrics to service PLM for Business Plan for new products/solutions
- Validate existing service processes are adequate for supporting the new product launch, work with central and regional organizations to update them as needed
- Create and/or update service and training documentation needed for product launch
- Lead the technical readiness for trade trials, support clinical trials as needed, provide technical support for serviceability and documentation issues that may arise from the trials, complete the related service deliverables on time
- Communicate and coordinate the Worldwide service launch activities as required by the new product launch and stabilization process
- After product launch, utilize service data analysis to identify reliability and serviceability improvement opportunities; provide recommendations to product design teams
- Assume responsibility for attaining AOP Installation & Warranty goals for service costs for the launched product until optimization/stabilization phase is completed
- Take the lead on resolving service issues for the launched product until optimization/stabilization phase is completed: gather all pertinent details, analyze them, and solicit assistance as needed to get issues resolved
- Support activities of the new product launch and  Stabilization/Optimization phase to validate that the product meets serviceability and reliability expectations
 

Required Skills & Education:

  • BS in Engineering discipline degree or 10 years of equivalent Engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with SW diagnostics and hardware interfaces; experience with Agile methodology desired. 
  • Experience with analytics methodologies to monitor and identify product reliability issues.
  • Proficient Computer skills including MS Office, and ability to use spreadsheet tools (MS Excel)
  • Ability to work independently and define own tasks and priorities (often within the boundaries of a larger project)
  • Ability to engage cross-functional team cooperation and promote collaboration across organizations across organizations the different company locations around the world
  • Familiarity with project management concepts 
  • Communication skills to concisely and effectively present to management and stakeholders through visual tools (MS PowerPoint and other)
