Compensation $75,500 to $80,000 annually.

*This range reflects Carestream’s good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.

Position Summary:

The Product Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that product consistently meets specifications and on time delivery to customers, including understanding demand forecasts, dispositioning product, monitoring process conditions, implementing statistical process controls, and escalating issues as appropriate.  This engineer will coordinate product, quality, and process development and improvement efforts in the Carestream Health Oregon Product Engineering group.  This will include implementing accreditation plans, executing trials, analyzing trial results and QC data, developing test methods, statistical analysis and tracking for product quality management, leading risk assessments, writing and gaining approval of CMRs, leading safety assessments and change management, and leading root cause analysis activities.

 

This engineer will be expected to lead technical efforts and use appropriate project planning, troubleshooting, experimental design, and lean manufacturing tools to drive product, process, and quality improvements.  The person in this role will be primary technical contact for assigned products or projects with internal and/or external customers and work to ensure that customer deliverables are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Position Responsibilities:

•    Monitor quality, productivity, and delivery for assigned product(s).
•    Work with planning, operations, and quality teams to deliver product to meet customer demand in a safe and timely manner
•    Implement quality control test methods and statistical process control charting for assigned product(s).
•    Analyze process data trends to anticipate and prevent issues.
•    Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine root cause of quality issues.
•    Outline and execute accreditation and trial run plans.
•    Analyze trial results and QC data.
•    Define and follow up on action items from trials to ensure issues are resolved.
•    Update IMAPs, chem specs, and standard work documentation.
•    Implement improvement programs related to experimental, operational, and commercialized product excellence.
•    Lead risk assessments, change management activities, and gate reviews for assigned product(s)
•    Communicate and present to all customers and stakeholders, both internal and external, for assigned product(s).

•    up to 10% travel possible.

Required Skills & Education:

  • BA, BS, or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Natural Sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience level:  0-3 years experience
  • Desired Background
    • Manufacturing technical experience with coated films
    • Defining and implementing product and process improvement projects
    • Monitoring manufacturing quality, productivity, and delivery trends and intervening as needed to prevent issues
    • Process and/or Quality engineering
    • Strong technical writing capabilities
    • Experience presenting to plant management, internal and external customers, and vendors

Desired Skills:
